Last Will and Testament of Alpheus Picken
Know all men of these presents that I Alpheus Picken of Richland Township, Wapello Co., Iowa, being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make and publish this to be my last Will and Testament.
First -- I give and bequeath to my wife, Jane Picken all my Estate Real and Personal during her natural life, at her death whatever remains of my Estate after paying all just claims against the Estate the balance to be divided as herein after stated.
Second -- I give and bequeath to my grand daughter Jane Anderson of Cedar Township, Mahaska Co., IA, $500.
Third -- I give and bequeath to my grand daughter Alpharetta Thomas, $500
Fourth -- I give and bequeath to my grandchildren the heirs of Delilah Foster, deceased $400 to be divided equally and in case of the death of any of them before coming of age then their share shall be divided equally among the remaining ones.
Fifth -- The remainder of my estate I give and bequeath to my heirs herein after named to become equal in my said remaining estate. Mathew Picken, James Picken, Benjamin Picken, Susanna Funk, Nancy Anderson.
I have hereunto subscribed my name this 18th day of December 1876.
