Funeral services for Mrs. Lula Phillips Ables, 87, were at 1:30 o'clock on Saturday afternoon at Hollands Gin Church of Christ in Limestone County, Ala., with the burial in the Elliott Cemetery near Elkton. Mrs. Ables, who had been in failing health several weeks, died Thursday, January 19, at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Velma Arnett, at Tanner, Ala., after a brief illness.
Born April 10, 1873, in Giles County, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. Phillips and Sarah Scott Phillips. Her husband, LeeRoy Ables, died January 9, 1947.
Mrs. Ables is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Emma McCormick, Nashville; four sons, Floyd Ables, Pulaski, John Ables, Nashville, Roy and Fred Ables, Athens, Ala.; forty-two grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Sam T. Phillips, Pulaski.
