Sybil Edna Bauman-Wooldridge, 92 years old, of Altamont, Illinois, passed away peacefully with her family near on Monday, July 25th, 2011 in the St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois. Sybil was the second born into the family of seven siblings of Floyd Elmer Phillips and Augusta Lenora (Stevens) Phillips on August 13, 1918 in the rural area near Hope, Arkansas. She married Percy Charles "Joe" Bauman on August 19, 1936 in Lindsay, Oklahoma and started a family. She was always a capable wife and mother. Percy passed away on January 2, 1965. She then married her high school sweetheart, Oscar J. Wooldridge in Poteau, Oklahoma in 1972 and moved to Tulsa where he preceded her in death on September 22, 1978.

Sybil was a member of the First Baptist Church in Altamont, Illinois. She moved from Tulsa, Oklahoma to be near her family members in Altamont in March of 2010. Though she was born in Arkansas, after a short time her family loaded into a hupmobile and moved to East Texas, near Kilgore, Texas, during the oil boom. Sybil attended a Baptist church which her mother helped to start near Sabine Community, Texas. The children attended the Sabine school where she played basketball and excelled in scholastics. She graduated valedictorian. She and her siblings worked to provide for the family. Sybil had a strong faith and loved her Lord. The family then moved to Lindsay, Oklahoma. She was a long time member of the Central Church of the Nazarene of Tulsa, Oklahoma where she served as a financial trustee and church secretary along with her good friend, Helen. In addition to raising a family with her late husband, she taught Sunday School, was part of city clubs, and was a bookkeeper in the automotive, church and medical industries. Her last employment before her retirement was with the First Baptist Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Sybil is survived by one son, Robert Steven Bauman and wife Diana of San Martin, California, three daughters; Victoria L. Milam and husband, Kieffer of Altamont, Illinois, Connie L. Lea of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Bonnie J. Johns and husband James of Hartford, Arkansas, one daughter-in-law, Kris Bauman of Las Vegas, Nevada, one brother, Bobby Joe Phillips and wife Helen of Fort Worth, Texas, three sisters; Rubye Wright of Longview, Texas, Floye Wyatt of Corinth, Mississippi and Wanda Anderson and husband Glen of White Oak, Texas and one sister-in-law, Fay Philips of Lubbock, Texas. She also leaves behind her grandchildren; Michelle, Stephanie, Kathryn, Todd, Robert, Tamara, John, Melanie, Amanda, Marc and Charlotte along with eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sybil was preceded in death by her husbands, Percy Charles "Joe" Bauman and Oscar J. Wooldridge, one son, Joseph Louis Bauman, her parents, Floyd Elmer Phillips and Augusta Lenora (Stevens) Phillips, one brother, Dillard J. Phillips, one sister, Bonnie Guy, one grandson, Montgomery Charles "Bear" Milam and four brothers-in-law, Keith Guy, Walter Bennett, Harvey Wright and Jimmy J. Wyatt.

Funeral services in Lindsay, Oklahoma for Mrs. Bauman-Wooldridge are set for two o'clock p.m. on Monday, August 1, 2011 at the B.G. Boydston Funeral Home Chapel located at 308 S.W. Third Street. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery in Lindsay, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of B.G. Boydston Funeral Home of Lindsay, Oklahoma. Services were also held in Altamont, Illinois at Kull Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, July 28th, 2011. Memorials may be given to The First Baptist Church Memorial Gardens, 102 First Baptist Drive, Altamont, Illinois, to the Central Church of the Nazarene in Tulsa, Oklahoma or the donor's choice.
