|Death: ||Jun. 22, 1937|
Daughter of William Phillips and Cordelia (Hull) Phillips.
She attended school at Versailles, Darke County, Ohio and Sandusky County, Ohio. In 1868, with her parents, she emigrated to Washington County, Kansas, locating first in the town of Washington and later moving to a farm 3 miles from Greenleaf, Washington County, Kansas. She completed her education there at Waterville, Marshall County, Kansas.
In 1875 she married her husband David, who had emigrated from Ireland to Washington County, Kansas in 1869. His homestead adjoined the Phillips farm and on this farm they resided until February 1889 when they bought a farm west of Edna, Labette County, Kansas. In 1900 they retired from the farm and moved to Edna, Labette County, Kansas where they continued to live until David died in 1934. After that time she made her home intermittently with her children. She passed away at the home of her daughter, Anna, at Oswego, Labette County, Kansas. She had been in ill health for a year and had a serious fall just five weeks before her death hurting her back and side.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist Episcopal Church, at the old home at Edna, condcuted by the Rev. E.L. Gillham, pastor of the Presbyterian Church at Oswego, assisted by the Rev. Saferite, pastor of the Edna Methodist Church. Interment was made in the family plot in Elm Grove Cemetery, in charge of the Gatewood Funeral Home of Oswego.
