HILLSBORO - Esther E. Ashmore, 86 of Hillsboro, IL, died June 17, 2009.
Services will be Monday, June 22, at 11:00 a.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Rev. Harry Meyer, pastor of First Christian Church, officiating. Burial in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield. Visitation will be Sunday, June 21, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born on October 22, 1922 in Litchfield, to the late Truman Sexton and Leona (Street) Phillips. She graduated from Litchfield High School, was a homemaker, a member of First Christian Church, Hillsboro American Legion Auxiliary and was a Gold Star Mother. She married Harry Ashmore on April 4, 1942, and he survives. They have two children, Dianne Ashmore of Cookeville, TN, and Darla (husband, Stephen) Meyer of Springfield, IL; 6 grandchildren; 2 stepgrandchildren; 7 great- granddaughters; and 1 stepgreat-grandchild. She was preceded by her son, David Ashmore; and brother, Milton Sexton.
Memorials can be directed to First Christian Church or Alterna-Care Home Health & Hospice/ Sangamon Co.
