Virginia Lee Bean, 88, of Muncie, Indiana, formerly of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2013. Born in Covington, Kentucky to the late Mary Early and Elmer Phillips, Mrs. Bean graduated from Holmes High School in Covington and from Christ Hospital's School of Nursing in Cincinnati, Ohio.
In 1949, she married Terrell Bean of Louisville, KY, where they made their home for 55 years. A registered nurse, Mrs. Bean spent her career at Saint Mary & Elizabeth Hospital, Methodist Hospital, and Saint Matthew's Manor Nursing Home, though her favorite nursing position was that of school nurse at Iroquois High School from 1966-1971. In 2004, they relocated to Muncie, IN, to live near their daughter.
Mrs. Bean was preceded in death by her infant son, Terrell Bean Jr.; her grandson, Timothy Patterson; her sister, Billie Delaney; and her son-in-law, Robert Rothenhausler.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Terrell; two daughters; her sister; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Nunnelley Funeral Home,, 4327 Taylor Boulevard, Louisville, KY, with services at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Bethany Memorial Cemetery.
