Esther M. Karber was born December 31, 1919, the daugther of Matt and Edna (Boyd) Karber. She married Clinton Phillips on April 13, 1941, at Salina, Kansas. She was a homemaker and also assisted her husband in their family business, Phillips Motor Company, in Salina, Kansas.

Esther died April 2, 2010, at Kaye Pogue Hospice Center, Salina. She was preceded her in death by her husband in 2006. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Sharon Spillers, in 1997, and Dena Lewis, in 1973, and one grandson, Shawn Stevenson, in 1968.

Survivors included a daughter, Shirley Jorgensen; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was born Esther M. Karber on Dec. 31, 1919, in McPherson, Kan., to Matt and Edna (Boyd) Karber.
Esther was a homemaker and also assisted her husband, Clinton Phillips in their family business, Phillips Motor Company in Salina.
She married Clinton on April 13, 1941, in Salina. He preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 2006. She is also preceded in death by two daughters, Sharon Spillers, in 1997, and Dena Lewis, in 1973, and one grandson, Shawn Stevenson, in 1968.

Esther is survived by one daughter, Shirley Jorgensen and husband Kenny, of Salina; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, April 5, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Eighth, Salina, with the Rev. Paul Robbins officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Monday morning to the time of service at the mortuary. Burial will be in Gypsum Cemetery, Gypsum
