Funeral services for Nona "Nonie" Hunter, 86, Tyler, are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Monday at Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Crawford and the Rev. Charles Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Tyler Memorial Park.
Mrs. Hunter died May 6, 2011, in a Tyler hospice.
She was born Aug. 14, 1924, in Bullard and was a lifetime resident and a member of Cedar Street United Methodist Church. Mrs. Hunter was primarily a homemaker but did enjoy her years as an employee with the County Clerk's office under the guidance of Mary Morris. Mrs. Hunter will be remembered for her zest for life and love for family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Billie Joe (B.J.) Hunter; parents, John Robert and Thula Phillips; brothers, Johnny and Tal Phillips; and sisters, Opal Phillips, Ruth Herren and Lena Beddingfield.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Billy Wayne and Machelle Hunter of Whitehouse; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Tom Tipton of Tyler, and Shirley and Mike Wheeler of Flint; one brother and sister-in-law, Joe Paul and Loretta Phillips of Tyler; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers include grandsons, Leland Herron and Chance Knight, and nephews Bob Beddingfield, Mike Phillips, Steve Harvey and Cotham Altwein.
