Arthur W. Phillips, 68, of Louisville died September 3, 1991 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN.

Mr. Phillips was born August 5, 1923 in Clay County, IL, the son of Andrew and Viola Maxwell Phillips. He married Geneva Cambron December 5, 1942.

He was a retired minister of the Baptist Church. He was a member of the Sailor Springs Baptist Church and Sailor Springs American Legion.

Mr. Phillips is survived by his wife; five sons, Jay C., Allen, Larry, Mark, and Anthony; two daughters, Alvena Hildebrand and Vicky Harvel; one brother, Henry Phillips; three sisters, Ellen Tolliver, Vida Mae Brown, and Irene Dane; and 17 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Services were held at Hoosier Prairie Baptist Church with burial in Dillman Cemetery with military rites.

Neal Funeral Home in Louisville was in charge.

ENTERED ACTIVE SERVICE AS A DRAFTEE ON 16 FEBRUARY, 1943. TRAINED AS A STATISTICAL CLERK AND DEPARTED THE CONTINENTAL U.S. ON 13 NOVEMBER 1943, BOUND FOR THE PACIFIC THEATER OF OPERATIONS. PARTICIPATED IN THE CENTRAL BURMA CAMPAIGN. AWARDED THE ASIATIC-PACIFIC CAMPAIGN MEDAL WITH 1 BRONZE BATTLE STAR, THE WWII VICTORY MEDAL AND THE GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL. HONORABLE DISCHARGE FROM THE 446TH ENGINEER SUPPLY BASE DEPOT COMPANY AS A TECHNICIAN 4TH GRADE ON 28 DECEMBER 1945.
