Jean A. Anderson, age 83, of Batavia, passed away on Friday, June 8, 2001, at Delnor-Community Hospital in Geneva.
She was born March 23, 1918, in Aurora, the daughter of Roy and Edna Philips. Jean was raised in Elgin and lived there until her marriage to Erik A. Anderson on June 15, 1946. She was a long time member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Batavia, where she was a former Sunday school teacher. She worked many years at Furnas Electric in Batavia until her retirement in 1978. Jean devoted her life to her beloved family and treasured her special time with her grandchildren. She brightened the lives of those around her with her loving and positive spirit.
She is survived by her husband, Erik A. Anderson; daughter, Barb (Tony) Barajas of Batavia; son, Ken (Cristy) Anderson of Fort Mitchell, KY; five grandchildren, Matt and Megan Anderson of Covington, KY, Molly Anderson of Fort Mitchell, KY, Nick and Nate Barajas of Batavia; sister, Emma Lou Anderson of Elgin, IL; brother, Warren (Alice) Philips of Durango, CO; two brother and sister-in-laws, Gary and Nancy Anderson of Northfield, IL and Paul and Gladys Hemp of Champaign, IL; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by twin brothers, Callan and Allan Philips, and brothers, Edward and Merwin Philips.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 5:00p.m. on Sunday, June 10, 2001, at the Yurs-Peterson Funeral Home in Batavia. A private funeral service will be held on Monday, June 11, 2001 at the funeral home with Rev. Fred Reklau officiating. Interment will be at West Batavia Cemetery.
