Betty M. (Phifer) Beyer was born on Friday; July 19, 1935, in Marion County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Dale & Marjorie Pearl (Waddle) Phifer. She graduated from Monroe High School in 1953. On Saturday; August 29, 1953 she was united in marriage to Harold Beyer at the First Baptist Church in Monroe; Jasper County, Iowa. Betty lived for eighteen months in Oklahoma where Harold served in the military. Following that they moved back to Monroe and farmed for over fifty years. In 2004, they retired from farming and moved to town. Betty especially enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and also sewing and doing jigsaw puzzles. Betty M. (Phifer) Beyer, 71, of Monroe, passed away on Friday; January 19, 2007, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines; Polk County, Iowa. Those left to mourn her passing are her loving husband of fifty-three years, Harold of Monroe. Her children, Randy Beyer and his wife Gail of Runnells; Polk County, Iowa. Pamela Jess and her husband Duane of Monroe and Rick Beyer and his wife Cara of Monroe. Eight grandchildren, Jamie Beyer and his wife Brenda of San Diego; San Diego County, California. Robby Beyer of Fargo; Cass County, North Dakota. Bradley Beyer of Ankeny; Polk County, Iowa. Ashley and Abby Jess of Monroe. Lacey Jo De Vries and her husband Matt of Fallbrook; San Diego County, California and Arick and Mikayla Sille of Monroe. Also her three sisters, Delores Marshall of Monroe, Eula Rawls of Monroe and Joyce Cline of Des Moines. Several nieces and nephews. Also a host of friends. Preceding Betty in death were her parents, and a brother Johnny. May they all rest in peace. Visitation for Mrs. Beyer will take place on Sunday; January 21, 2007 from 2:00p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the church. The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday; January 22, 2007 at the First Baptist Church in Monroe at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Silent City Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church, Monroe Emergency Unit or the Betty Beyer Memorial Fund and online condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.
