Evadean Phend

Evadean Phend, 84, of Elkhart, died Tuesday January 10th in Greenleaf Health Campus. She was born August 13, 1927 in St. Joseph County, to the late Harvey and Algia (Flinn) Hardy. Also preceding her in death was a son James Alan Phend and a grandson Andrew E. Phend; 2 sisters; 2 brothers; and 2 step sisters. On February 15, 1947 in South Bend she married Jacob J. Phend who died May 31, 2006. She is survived by her daughter Linda Hasbrouck (Bill) of Centerville, MI; son Tom Phend (Barbara) of Osceola, IN; six grandchildren James Lee Hasbrouck, Tracy Lynn Labadie, Jeffrie Jacob Phend, Kevin Michael Phend, Toby J. Phend and Lori Jo Kimbrough; and 15 great grandchildren. Evadean was a member of Bethel United Methodist church. She liked to read do puzzles and especially grow flowers. She was a wonderful baker and a favorite were her snicker doodles. A special thanks to the wonderful and caring staff of Greenleaf and Hospice for their work and love. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday January 14, 2012 in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home 521 N. William St. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family today from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel United Methodist Church, 1200 N. Michigan St., Elkhart, IN, 46514.
