One of God's choicest daughters returned home on the morning of November 22, 2013.
Anna Kristin Knudsen Phelps was born January 31, 1919 to Hans and Bessie Knudsen in Brigham City, Utah. As the middle child of eleven brothers and sisters, she was mad that she was the last to leave. What a celebration they must be having being all together again.
Ann married Charles Dennett Phelps on September 14, 1944 in Salinas, California. Charles preceded her in death on February 1, 1998. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on September 14, 2000. Now they can begin their next adventure together.
Ann is survived by their three children: Cyndy (Lawrence) East, Richard (Karla) Phelps, and Greg Phelps, seven grandchildren: Christopher East, Bryan East, Laurel (Nate) Pate, Phillip (Kima) East, Heather East, Warren Phelps, and Braden Phelps, and five great-grandchildren: Skyler, Shyanna, Kaiden, Adrian, and Imani, plus scores of nieces and nephews.
Ann's life can best be defined by love, service, and sacrifice. She was always available to help and give love and comfort whenever needed, putting aside her own needs. Although her life was never an easy one, she always had a ready smile and a positive attitude. She touched the life of everyone she met with her genuine interest and concern. She was strong, she was gracious, she was feisty and fun.
She was a hard worker, falling asleep whenever she sat down for a minute to rest. She worked as a diet tech for Pioneer Valley Hospital, receiving a twenty-year service award and employee of the year. Over the years, she had many other jobs, sometimes more than one at a time.
She also served in numerous callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Though her list of accomplishments may not be long - her list of people she cares about and those who cared for her are endless.
Ann lived the last eleven months at Legacy House in Bountiful. She loved you all so much and appreciated your care. A special thanks to Hospice for Utah, especially to Brett, Debbie, and Allison. Your tender care means the world to us. When we couldn't be with her we knew she was in good hands.
