Retiring for a second time, he and Pauline traveled over 80,000 miles in their motor home, caravanning with their friends, seeing most of the United States and Canada. He and his wife were residing at Ridgecrest Village in Davenport.
He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Henderson Grove. He served as president of the school board of Sunnyside School, Alexis. He started his Masonic journey in 1947 with the Alexandria Lodge in Alexis and then to Viola Lodge 577 AF & AM and was honored as a 60-year member. He was a member of the Mercer and Warren County Farm Bureau, Blue Cross Shield area Advisory Board, lifetime member of the Aberdeen Angus Association and a member of several square dance clubs.
