Marion Petzold-Keefe, formerly a longtime Ansonia resident, died Oct. 5 surrounded by her family after a courageous struggle with both dementia and pancreatic cancer. She was the wife of the late John J. Keefe Sr.
Daughter of the late William and Eleanor Johanson Petzold, she was born Oct. 12, 1927.
Mrs. Keefe was an avid N.Y. Giants fan and enjoyed playing bingo and cards with many friends. Her passion was crocheting and she made an afghan for each of her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, John J. Keefe Jr. and his wife, Kim of Cheshire, Robert M. Keefe and his wife, Debbie of Southbury and Ellen J. Keefe of Beacon Falls with whom she resided; "Ellen devoted her life to the care and wellness of her mother whom she loved dearly," her family said.
She was known as Gram to Becky, Lenny (Missy), Jack, Nicole, Brandon and Brayleigh and Great Gram to Robbie, Aaron and Abby. She held a special place in her heart for Brandon, whom she helped guide into early adulthood. Brandon, in turn, comforted Marion through her illnesses and her final days. She also is survived by her sisters, Ruth Johnson and Dolly Blakey.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Joanne; granddaughter, Samantha; brothers, William and John Petzold; and sister, Eileen Shay.
Services will be conducted Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 10 a.m. at the Jenkins-King Funeral Home, 12 Franklin St., Ansonia. Entombment will follow in Mt. St. Peter Mausoleum in Derby.
Her family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of CT. Hospice for their compassionate and loving care.
