AUSTINTOWN – There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday May 27 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hubbard for Laurene D. DiBacco, 94, of Victoria House, formerly of Hubbard who passed away peacefully Sunday at Briarfield at Ashley Circle.
Laurene was born Dec. 31, 1915, in McKees Rocks, Pa., a daughter of Dominic and Lucia Rosati Petrella and came to this area in 1936.
She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and a past member of St. Dominic Church in Youngstown and was a former member of 1331 Seniors of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel.
Laurene was a caring and loving mother, and grandmother and took pride in her family and her Italian heritage.
She enjoyed cooking for her family; making pasta, cakes and cookies especially her Easter bread. She also enjoyed reading, playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She also loved all the birthday parties and holidays she spent with her family; and vacations with her husband during his retirement years.
Her husband, John Frank DiBacco whom she married June 4, 1936, passed away May 10, 1995.
She will be sadly missed by her family; her children, Bernetta (Charles) Margala of Hubbard, John F. Jr. (Patricia) DiBacco of Youngstown, James (Melissa) DiBacco of Boardman, Robert (Judith) DiBacco of Strongsville; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Robert Hazinakis of Lakewood.
She also leaves her sister, Josephine (Frank) Vertullo of McKees Rock, Pa.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her daughter, Dorthea Hazinakis; brothers, John Petrella, Jerry Petrella and Anthony Petrella; and sisters, Pauline Puskar and Violet Pecman.
Family and friends may visit on Wednesday May 26 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., with prayers on Thursday May 27 at 9:45 a.m. at the Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home.
Special thanks to the nurses and aides at Victoria House and Ashley Circle for the kindness and care that was shown to their loved one, Laurene.
Burial will be at Lake Park Cemetery.
