Burial will follow in Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.
Mrs. Andrews passed away on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008, in Tyler.
She was born on April, 26, 1923, in Dallas to the late Dr. Thomas (Pete) and Pollie Peterson. She grew up in Mineola, and later moved to Dallas where she graduated from The Hockaday School and Southern Methodist University. Pledging Kappa Kappa Gamma, Marilyn went on to be an active alum in Tyler. In her early years Marilyn participated in Slipper and Cotillion Club in Dallas. As an avid gardener, Marilyn served in her garden club for many years. With her husband, Don, they were members of the Deck Club in Tyler. Bridge, Mah Jongg and needlepoint were her passions.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Donald R. Andrews, and her parents. She is survived by sons, Donald R. Andrews Jr. and wife Vicki Plunk Andrews of Fort Worth, Dr. John Peterson Andrews and wife Kay Richmond Andrews of Tyler; grandsons Justin Phillip Andrews of Tyler and Derek Edward Andrews of College Station; and granddaughters, Rebecca Stewart Andrews of Dallas and Virginia Peterson Andrews of Fort Worth.
Pallbearers will be Justin Andrews, Derek Andrews, Dr. David Beaird, Dr. William Brelsford and Timothy Dale Plunk.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Long, Steve Fry, Ken Graveney and Terry Plunk.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children, 3100 Sanford Avenue, Shreveport, La. 71103; or Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, 2222 Welborn, Dallas, 75219.
