Early Life/Education: Pete was born on December 4, 1931, in Monroe, Utah. He was born to Dona Zabriskie and Allen June Andreason; the eldest of four children. He attended South Cache High School in Hyrum.
Life's Work/Service/Interests: Pete joined the United States Navy in 1948, at age 17. He was discharged in February 1950 and went to work for Geneva Steel. He joined the United States Air Force in January 1952 and applied for the Aviation Cadet Program to become a pilot. He was accepted into the program in 1955 and received his wings and commission in April 1956, as a distinguished graduate. He graduated from Jet Fighter School in October 1956 and married Joyce R. Stone of Provo, Utah. Their first assignment was at Misawa Air Force Base, Japan, where their son, Charles "Chuck," was born. They returned to the US later, in 1957, and were stationed at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. He flew the F-84 and F-86 until 1959, when he was assigned to the Strategic Air Command (SAC) and flew the B-52 and FB-111A. While stationed in Texas, their daughter, Randy Kae, was born. In 1967 and 1968, Col Pete flew 100 missions in South East Asia (Vietnam). Upon completion of his tour in Vietnam, he was one of the first pilots chosen to be in the SAC FB-111A program. He was promoted to full Colonel in 1973 and served as the DCM and Vice Commander of the 509th Bomb Wing. Upon his retirement in December 1979, he was Director of Operations of the 45th Air Division at Pease Air Force Base in New Hampshire. After returning home to Utah in 1981, they built a home in Mapleton. In 1984, he went to work at Fiber Tech, which later became, a division of Alcoa Composites, where he retired due to his wife's health in October 1994. Pete was an avid golfer and at one time had a zero handicap. He enjoyed restoring and collecting old Mercedes and Porsches. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, friend and husband to his wife, Joyce, who preceded him in death in July 2004. Col. Pete was confident, knowledgeable, quick witted, fun, kind, wise, loving and will be greatly missed. Col. Allen B. Peterson passed away March 8, 2012, at his home in Mapleton, Utah.
Survived By: His two children: Charles and wife, Virginia, of Price; Randy Kae and husband, James Dunford, of Orem; his grandchildren: Austin (Britteny), Amber and Cooper Dunford, Lilly Peterson; and his brothers: Don Peterson, Ned Anderson, and sister, Pat Rogers.
