Magnus C. Petersen, 64, of rural Hardy, died Sunday in the Thayer County Hospital, Hebron.

Mr. Petersen attended Weimer rural school and was a lifetime member of Bethany Lutheran Church.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Harley (Carla) Jensen of Superior and Sarah Petersen of Hastings; one nephew, Merwin Jensen, Goodland, Kansas; one niece, Janice Oftergaard, Omaha.

Services will be held Thursday, May 14, 10:30 a.m. from the Bethany Lutheran Church in Ruskin. Pastor John Plowman officiating. Burial will be in Spring Creek Cemetery near Ruskin.

Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior is in charge of the arrangements.

Magnus Christian Petersen, one of four children of Jens P. and Marie (Jensen) Petersen, was born on a farm, the homeplace, near Hardy, Nebraska, December 21, 192, and passed away May 10, 1987, in the Thayer County Hospital in Hebron, Nebraska, at the age of 64 years, 4 months and 19 days.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Bethany Lutheran Church in Ruskin, Nebraska, of which he was a lifetime member.

He attended Weimer Rural School near Hardy, Nebraska.

Raising cattle and farming was his life. He spent many hours feeding and tending his cattle and working the land for his crops.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ira P. Petersen.

He is survived by two sisters, Carla Jensen and her husband Harley of Superior, Nebraska, and Sarah Petersen of Hastings; one nephew, Merwin Jensen of Goodland, Kansas, and one niece, Janice Ostergaard of Omaha and their families, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 14, 1987, at 10:30 a.m. from the Bethany Lutheran Church in Ruskin, Nebraska, with Pastor John Plowman officiating. Music was provided by Hartley Petersen singing "How Great Thou Art" and congregational hymns of "Abide With Me" and "Amazing Grace" with Hildegarde Hansen as organist and accompanist. Casketbearers were Arlo Petersen, Wayne Petersen, Roger Petersen, Joe Pedersen, Kenneth Pedersen and Gifford Larsen. Burial was in the Spring Creek Cemetery near Ruskin, Nebraska. Megrue-Price Funeral Home of Superior, Nebraska, was in charge of the arrangements.
