Funeral services for James Fowler Peters Sr., 71, of Mulberry were held Monday at 11 a. m. from the Mulberry Methodist church. The Rev. J. Steven Burris officiated and burial was made in the Dayton cemetery.

Mr. Peters, who died suddenly at his home at 3 a. m. Friday, had been in poor health since April 1.

Born in Tippecanoe county on Aug. 18, 1891, he was the son of Daniel and Sarah (Gaddis) Peters.

He married Harriett Carpenter on Sept. 30, 1914, and she survives.

Also surviving are two sons, James F. Jr. of Willow Springs, Ill., and Harold C. of Chicago; two daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Wagner of Naperville, Ill., and Mrs. Rosemany Marshall of Dayton; two sisters, Mrs. Verna Baird and Mrs. Melvin Metzger, both of Mulberry, and 11 grandchildren.

He was formerly employed by the U. S. Steel Company in Chicago retiring in 1956 and moving to Mulberry. He was a member of the Mulberry Methodist church, Mulberry F. and A. M. Lodge No. 618, and at the time of his death was the president of the Mulberry Community club.
