Mrs Peterson died the evening of March 8, 1996. She was born in Tacoma on April 13, 1924. She moved to her husband's home on a farm eight miles north of Almira shortly after they were married on Oct 14, 1945. Mrs. Peterson worked for the Navy on Pier 91 during WW II. In later years, she worked for the Dept of Agriculture as a part-time crop enumerator. She and her best friend had a wheat weaving business, Two's Company, and she had her own cake decorating business. Mrs. Peterson was a member and past president of the Almira Legion Auxiliary Potter-Doyle Post #98. She served on the Inland Empire Girl Scout Council and was president of the Almira Planning Commission. She was a member of the Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Highland Grange and the Almira Toast Mistresses. She was a founding member of her duplicate bridge club and belonged to a couples and a women's club. Mrs. Peterson was a Sunday school teacher and Girl Scout leader for more than 25 years. She enjoyed working with young people and encouraged them to explore the wide range of opportunities available to them. Mrs. Peterson is survived by her husband of 50 years, Lawrence E Peterson; two daughters, Carol of Spokane and Almira, and Christine of Phoenix, AZ; one sister, Arlene Painchaud of Brea, CA; one aunt, Helen Maddex; many nieces and nephews; two cousins, Shirley Evers of Green Valley, AZ, and James Taylor of Tacoma; and good friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert L Morrison, in May 1962. Mrs. Peterson's love of animals was legendary. Strate Funeral Home of Wilbur is in charge of arrangements."
