Cleo Paul Peterson passed away on January 3, 2014 in Plano, TX. He was born July 11, 1925 near Gypsum, Kansas to Elof and Susie (Base) Peterson. He grew up and went to school around Salina, Kansas. He married Iris Fyfe on September 18, 1943. He was a pilot in the Army Air Corp (later US Air Force) from 1943-1945. Cleo & Iris had two children, twins, Judy & Gary. Cleo was a trouble shooting manager for a number of variety stores during his early career. Later he was a partner in two Ben Franklin stores in Colorado. In 1966 Cleo and Iris bought a Ben Franklin franchise in Glenwood, Iowa which they ran until they retired and sold the business in 2001. In 2010 they moved to Plano, TX.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Iris (Fyfe) Peterson; son Gary & Barbara Peterson of Plano, TX; daughter Judy & Howard Prouty of Boulder, Colorado; grandsons William Prouty, Chris & Theresa Prouty; Brian & Peggy Prouty all of Colorado; great-grandchildren Ashley, Nic, and Corbin; brothers Darrel & Marlene Peterson (Wisconsin), Maynard & Dorothy Peterson, and sister-in-law Darleen Peterson all of Oklahoma; and numerous nieces & nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Frank Peterson. Service will be on Friday, January 17, 2013 at 11:00 AM West Plano Presbyterian Church, 2709 Custer Rd, Plano, Texas 75075 with burial at DFW National Cemetery at 2:30 PM
