Mrs. Ruth C. (Hickey) Pesky, age 82, of Swampscott, Mass, wife of John M. "Johnny" Pesky with whom she shared 60 years of marriage. Mrs. Pesky died Friday July 8 in a local nursing home after a lengthy illness with her husband by her side. Born in Salem, MA, she was the daughter of the late John and Ruth (Maguire) Hickey. She was raised in Lynn and graduated from Lynn English High School. During WWII, she served as a Wave in the United States Navy with the rank of Machinist Mate 1st Class. While stationed at Gordon Field Naval Air Base in Atlanta, where her assignment included starting airplane engines, she met Mr. Pesky. Mrs. Pesky was a faithful "Baseball Wife" who enjoyed sharing her love of the game with the entire Boston Red Sox Family. Her Husband, the beloved Johnny Pesky, currently serves as Special Assignment Instructor for the Boston Red Sox. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Pesky is survived by her son David M. Pesky and his wife Alison S. of Gloucester, MA. She also leaves her sister, Mary Jane Corea and her husband Lawrence and her brother John P. "Jack" Hickey and his wife Ruth, all of Lynn, MA along with several nieces and nephews.
