Jonathon Blake Perry passed away unexpectedly on February 24, 2008 in Temple , Texas. Known as Blake to family and friends, he was born on May 4, 1987 in Round Rock, Texas to John and Natalie Perry. He attended Hutto High School , where he was active in FFA. He raised goats and enjoyed showing them in livestock shows across the state. He was a distinguished graduate of the Class of 2005.
In January 2006, Blake enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was stationed at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita , Kansas, and had recently returned home from the Persian Gulf, serving at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. In the words of his commanding officer, Blake was a "model airman". He was fiercely dedicated to his commitment to the Air Force. His work as a member of McConnell s 22nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron was his life, and he was honored to have the opportunity to serve our country that he loved so well.
Blake will be remembered for his kind and gentle spirit. A loving son, grandson, and brother, he was always eager to lend a hand and help those around him in any way. He enjoyed frequent family gatherings to celebrate special events, and he liked to spend time with his many close friends. Blake also had a passion for cars, and he was most proud of his 2001black Trans Am WS6.
Blake was preceded in death by his great-grandfathers, W.L. Hantla of Meade, Kansas and Orley Yingling of Hiawatha, Kansas; his great-grandmother Grtrude Cofer of Coupland, Texas; and uncle Hank Simons of Evant, Texas .
Blake is survived by his loving parents, John and Natalie Perry of Hutto; his sister Chelsea Perry of Hutto; his grandparents Charles and Betty Perry of Coupland and Jim and Gayla Yingling of Gladstone, MO; and his great grandmothers Ruth Hantla of Meade, KS and Nilah Yingling of Hiawatha, KS. He also leaves behind his girlfriend, Chelsea McCoy of Hutto, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many special friends and loved ones.
The family will receive visitors from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, February 27 at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor , Texas. Services with full military honors will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, February 28 at Providence Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be members of the 22nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron from McConnell Air Force Base. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville.
