PERRY, C. T. "Commodore" of Thorndale. Age 96. Died 9/10/1962 (Monday) when he became ill unexpectedly, 3 hrs. later, in a Taylor hospital. Services held (Wed.) at Condra Memorial Chapel, Taylor. Burial in Salty Cemetery. Rev. R.J. Cooper, First Baptist Church, Thorndale, officiated.

BORN 7/5/1866 at Lake Charles, LA. He was a farmer, but retired several years ago. Made his home in Thorndale for the past 2 yrs. He lived a colorful life and had the distinction of being the first man to cross the old Brushy Creek bridge, south of town, horseback, back in 1886 after its completion. He could relate the history of Milam County back for 70 yrs. Preceded in death by his wife, 2 sons, and a daughter.

SURVIVORS: Son, George Perry, Thorndale; 3 daughters, Mrs. Annie Brock of Palestine, Mrs. Ivy Dawson of Quanah and Mrs. Bessie Lee Sefcik of Taylor; half-sister, Mrs. Julia Butterfield of Smackover, AR.; 2 half-brothers, William Montfort and Robert Montfort of Louisiana; 21 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great- grandchildren.
