Born in Dawsonville, Dawson County, GA in 1837, she married 1st James Berry Roach in 1854. Berry Roach was killed in the Battle of Baker's Creek (or Campion Hill), part of the siege of Vicksburg in 1863. She married 2nd, Reuben Hill in 1865. Somewhere between 1888 and 1890, Reuben and Mary Hill and their children move to Phoenix, Arizona Territory. They had a house on Grand Ave. near McKinley. Mary Hill raised flowers and sold them to passengers on the trains that ran past their house.
Her grave was an unmarked plot in the Jackson family plot until May of 2013 when her great-grandson, Wayne Roach, had a headstone installed for her. Her daughter, Alice Leah Hill was married to Robert Jackson who has a grave marker there (mem. # 35713439).
