Amalia was born on May 14, 1912 in Las Manuelitas, NM to Alejandro Perea, Sr. and Dorotea Crespín Perea.
Amalia worked out of her home as a self-employed seamstress, worked at the Flower Pot on the Plaza. Amalia was an extremely active member of La Capilla de San Jose in Montezuma, NM where she assisted the Seminarios in the training and teaching of their religion.
Amalia was preceded in death by her parents, Alejandro Perea, Sr., and Dorotea C. Perea, her husband, Vicente L. Armijo, daughters, Carolina Armijo and Isabel Armijo, brothers, Alfonso Perea, Alejandro Perea Jr., Faustin Perea and José Ruben Perea and sister, Anna Sophia Perea.
Amalia always made sure her family came first and that her children were taught the proper morales and principles of life. Amalia enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Amalia is survived by her daughters, Rosie Agustina Armijo of Montezuma Rt., Antonia Isabel Armijo-González and her husband, Humberto "Lefty" of Rio Rancho and María Priscilla Armijo of Montezuma Rt., grandchildren, Richard Vincent Maestas, Emily Gloria Maestas and her companion, Joseph, Frank David Maestas and his wife, Suzanne all from Las Vegas, NM and Angelo Rafael Cervantes and his wife, Anna of Albuquerque, NM, great-grandchildren, Rebecca Maestas Ream and her husband, Mike of Milliken CO, Bonnie Lynn Maestas Mulhern and her husband, John of Holly Ridge, North Carolina, RaeLynn Maestas of Las Vegas, Nevada, Kathryn Rosie Lanphere of Albuquerque, NM, Dorothy Ann Lanphere of Las Cruces, NM., Antonio Vicente Maestas, Francisco Ricardo Maestas, David Christian Maestas, and Nicholas Jeffery Maestas all of Las Vegas, NM, great-great-grandchildren, Baylee Shea Betz, Gavin Jon Ream of Milliken, CO, Kayla Mulhern and John James Mulhern of Holly Ridge, NC, special nephew, Michael A. Newton and his wife, Glenda of Las Vegas, NM, sister-in-law, Mary L. Perea of Albuquerque, NM and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
Rosary devotional services will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. with the funeral services following immediately at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Las Vegas, NM with Father Ronald Stone as celebrant. Interment will be at San José Cemetery in Montezuma, NM. Serving as casket bearers will be Angelo Rafael Cervantes, Michael A. Newton, Antonio Vicente Maestas, Francisco Ricardo Maestas, David C. Maestas and Nicholas J. Maestas. Serving as honorary bearers will be Dr. Joseph Perea, Dale Perea, Michael Padilla, Fred Encinias, Humbert "Lefty" Gonzáles and all of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
