Susan Eliza Perdue Blodgett (name listed in Magnolia Cemetery Sexton Records) or Mrs. Eliza S.(as her obituaries have said), was born in Aiken County, South Carolina. She was the wife of Foster Blodgett Sr., who was born in Deerfield, Massachusetts. Her husband was City Marshall of Augusta and also served on the City Council and was Judge of the Inferior Court of Richmond County. Their labor of love was the Augusta Orphan Asylum. Foster was manager of this institution. They were members of the First Baptist Church of Augusta. Mrs. Blodgett lived out her remaining years at her daughter Mary's residence in Atlanta, GA. She was brought back to Augusta to be buried next to her husband. The children of Foster and Eliza were Foster Jr., Edwin, Mary, and William.
Death of Mrs. E.S. Blodgett
At half-past eleven o'clock last night, Mrs. E.S. Blodgett died at the residence of Mr. Wallace Rhodes, at 71 Fairlie Street. She was in her eightieth year and died from old age. For sixteen months, she had been a patient sufferer, bearing the pains of an invalid with uncomplaining Christian fortitude. She was the widow of Hon. Foster Blodgett, Sr., who died in Augusta in 1859, after distinguished services in the war against the Indians and honorable service in civil life. She was the mother of the late Hon. Foster Blodgett and of Mrs. Wallace Rhodes. Her funeral will be preached at five o'clock this evening at the First Baptist Church and her remains will be taken to Augusta for interment. She was fifty years a consistent member of the Baptist Church.

BLODGETT-The friends of Mrs. E.S. Blodgett, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Rhodes, Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Blodgett, Mr. and Mrs. E.F. Blodgett are invited to attend the funeral services of Mrs. E.S. Blodgett at the First Baptist Church this (Sunday) afternoon at 5 o'clock. After the services at the church, the remains will be taken to Augusta for burial.
