AMMONS, Evelyn Holt Perdue, age 89, died July 3, 2008. She had lived in Alpharetta, Ga. for the past five years, but was a native of Virginia. She considered Matoaca Baptist Church her church home. She was a romantic at heart and enjoyed playing bridge with friends. She was the daughter of the late Leonard Thomas and Elizabeth Perdue of Ferndale, Va. and spent most of the past 40 years in Chester, Va. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan Lafayette Ammons Jr. Together, they lived in the Philippine Islands, Alaska, Mississippi, New York, but Virginia was always considered, "home". She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Brenda Perdue (Ammons) Hays; and son, Nathan (Nick) Lafayette Ammons III; as well as six grandchildren, Leonard C. Hays Jr., Natalie S. Hays, Brandon S. Hays, Nathan L. Ammons IV, Courtney A. Bashada and Meredith K. Ammons; and eight great-grandchildren, Nicholas A. Hays, Christian C. Hays, Kelsey C. Hays, Jesse River McKay, Sam E. McKay, Skyler C. Bashada, Adriana G. Bashada and Ashton P. Bashada. Services will be led by Leonard C. Hays Jr. and will be held at J.T. Morriss Funeral Chapel, Chester Chapel, at 2 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2008. She will be buried beside Nathan, her husband of 59 years, in Sunset Memorial Park.
