Constance (Percival) DePeau, 90, of Somers, CT, passed peacefully at her home on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 surrounded by family. She was the widow of Edward A. DePeau and was a World War II veteran and lifelong resident of Somers, CT. Connie was born in Stafford Springs, CT on March 2, 1922, a daughter of the late Dwight and Mildred Percival, and was a member of the Somers Congregational Church. After graduating from nursing school at Cooley Dickinson Hospital, she voluntarily enlisted in the U.S. Army as a nurse. Following her Army service, which included being stationed in Hawaii and on Guam caring for wounded servicemen from Okinawa and Iwo Jima as a member of the 204th Army general hospital unit, she was honorably discharged with the rank of 1st Lieutenant in 1946. Upon returning home to Somers, she met her future husband, Edward, and they were married just over a year later. Together they built a home on her parent's farmstead in which they raised a family and remained for the rest of their lives. Surviving Constance are seven sons, Alfred and his wife Darlene of Somers, CT, Kenneth and his wife Marcia of Union, CT, Dwight and his wife JoAnne of Carmel, IN, Edward and his wife Jackie of Willington, CT, Dana of Somers, CT, Alan and his wife Lisa of Ridgeway, VA, and Norman of San Jose, CA; four daughters, Donna and her husband Raymond Hurd of Las Vegas, NV, Diane and her husband Terry Carleton of Somers, CT, Dorothy DePeau and her husband Stephen D'Esopo of Londonderry, NH, and Brenda and her husband Michael Peloso of Willington, CT; twenty-two grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. At the request of the family, calling hours and funeral services with burial in Stafford Springs Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT, will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005. Boston, MA 02241.
