Funeral services for Mrs. August Becker were held Friday afternoon at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Deerfield, with the Rev. Henry Knoke, officiating. Interment was in the Deerfield Cemetery.
Special music was furnished by a quartet composed of Mrs. Gilbert Merz, Luella Ploeger, Mrs. Herndon Campbell and Rose Hafner. The accompanist was Mrs. Harold Purdy. The casket bearers were: Charles Marquardt, Henry Molz, Herman Huner, Emil Barben, Ralph Gropp and William Kueker. The Garnand funeral service was in charge.
Eliza Linda Becker was born at Newton, Kansas, June 22, 1886, and died on January 30, 1952, at her home in Deerfield.
She was received into God's Kingdom of Grace in infancy through baptism. A the age of 14 years she renewed her baptismal vows in confirmation. She remained a lifelong and faithful member of the Lutheran Church.
When she was eight years of age her family left Harvey County adn settled on a farm near Lakin. On April 25, 1905, she was united in marriage to August Becker. They were blessed with two chldren, a son and a daughter. Her husband and son have preceded her in death.
She leaves to mourn her passing: her daughter Lillie, of Dodge City; a sister, Mrs. August Kettler, of Deerfield; and many other relatives and friends.
