PENN, MILTON THOMPSON (Age 82)
Of Alexandria, VA, born May 13, 1922, died on Friday, September 18, 2004 in his boyhood home on Shooters Hill after a long illness. He served in the United States Navy on the USS Hornet during World War II. He served his community faithfully by working for the Alexandria Fire Department for 27 years, most recently as Chief from 1972 until his retirement on January 1, 1976. He continued his service as a member and contributing leader of the Friendship Veterans Fire Engine Association. He loved his country, his community and his family and was a Great American. He is survived by his loving and devoted family, including his wife, Ruth; his children and their families, Caroline and John Frazier of Burke, VA, Mark and Victoria Penn of Alexandria, Nadene and Michael Zuidema of Alexandria and Cheryl and Lawrence Ricciardi of Chantilly, VA. He is also survived by his brother, William and his wife, Phyllis, of Bel Air, MD. He leaves behind a number of loving grandchildren, including John Frazier and his wife, Kathy, of Austin, TX, Jennifer Frazier and her companion, Wille Vadnais of Fairfax, VA, Christine and Steven Penn of Alexandria, Sarah and Ian Zuidema of Alexandria and Laura Ricciardi of Chantilly, as well as many other devoted family and friends throughout the area.
