Nancy Patricia Penland Fineberg, 48 of Old Fort died Sunday April 25, 1999 in Memorial Mission Hospital, Asheville.
Born to Irene Hensley Penland and the late George Lee Penland, she was a graduate of Mars Hill College with a degree in Early Elementary Education. Nancy taught at Black Mountain Primary School for five years before moving to McDowell County Public Schools for a total of 16 years, with the last 15 as a teacher at Old Fort Elementary. She was a member of Lackeytown Baptist Church.
Surviving is one son Kevin Michael Fineberg of the home; one brother George Penland of Monroe City, MI; two nephews, one niece and one great niece of Vandalia, MI; and special friends Lawrence Nelon and family of Black Mountain.
Services will be held at 11 o'clock Wednesday at Lackeytown Baptist Church. The Rev. Donnie Buchanan will officiate with burial following at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of McDowell County 116 N. Logan Street Marion, NC 28752.
