Martha Adeline Pendleton, also known as Mattie and Addie was a daughter of John Craig Pendleton and Martha Ann Asberry-Pendleton and a Grandaughter of the Rev John Pendleton II & Jemima Kilgore-Pendleton. Her Pendleton Grandparents origins were from Scott County, Virginia and they moved to Farmersville, Collin County, Texas bringing with them their children, one being Martha's father John. John was born July 27, 1826 Scott County, Virginia. John was the sixth child of twelve children.

John married Martha Ann Asberry Oct 11, 1860 in Hunt, Texas. Martha was born 12 Jan 1842 Clay County, Illinois, United States to Jesse Allen Asberry & Mary Elliot-Asberry. Martha was the third of twelve children in her family.
