Charles Lenard Pelfrey, 71 of Grant, Ala., died on Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, in Huntsville, Ala.

Mr. Pelfrey was a former resident of Rhea County and of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Pelfrey was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Albert and Nell Olinger Pelfrey and brother, John Wendell Pelfrey.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Davidson of Grant Ala.; five daughters, Helen Clark of Knoxville, Tenn., Charlene Bassler and Roberta Pelfrey both of Battle Creek, Mich., Tina Farrow of Soddy Daisy, Tenn., and Stephanie Lemon of Sweetwater, Tenn.; three sons, Charles Steven Pelfrey and John Lee Pelfrey both of Battle Creek, Mich. and Shawn Pelfrey of New York; two brothers, Ron Pelfrey of Soddy Daisy, Tenn. and Mike Pelfrey of Dayton; 17 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 5, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Coulter Garrison Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Swafford officiating. Burial will be at Ogden Cemetery.

Coulter Garrison Funeral Home of Dayton is in charge of arrangements.
