Our beautiful Alexandra “Lexi” Rose Peek, 22, went to her Heavenly home at 9:02 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, after an eight-month battle with cardiomyopathy (heart failure). She passed and was surrounded by her loving family and many friends who will miss her beyond compare.
Lexi was born in Randolph County, MO, on March 29, 1992, to Thomas Peek and Patricia Reeves Peek.
She is survived by both parents; her stepmother, Heather Peek; grandparents, Bill and Jeannie Maddox; grandmother, Sondra Peek; her sisters, Brittany Ray, Courtney Pape, Jennifer Whithaus and Victoria Moore; her brothers, Daniel Peek, Christopher and Justin Schumann; and many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. Lexi also is survived by her beloved boyfriend, Will Buckridge. Lexi often said Will was her rock, that he kept her fighting, and that she loved him more than life itself.
During the eight months of Lexi’s courageous medical battle, she was strong, and she persevered through so much even though she was in a lot of pain. She kept her joyful and free-spirited personality throughout it all. Lexi lived her life as a generous and loving sister and daughter, as well as a trustworthy friend. Lexi loved with her whole carefree heart. Lexi had a fun-loving sense of humor, and everyone was drawn to her energy and free spirit. She was artistic, and she loved sewing, making jewelry and drawing. She, of course, also was a wonderful hair stylist. Our Lexi loved so much in her young life, and we will never forget her. Now she is our very own guardian angel.
“Then the child opened its eyes and looked up in the angel’s beautiful face, which beamed with happiness, and at the same moment they were in Heaven, where joy and bliss reigned. The child received wings like the other angel, and they flew about together, hand in hand.” — Hans Christian Andersen
We will be celebrating Lexi’s life each and every day. However, for family and friends who wish to join us, we will be at Jake’s in Columbia, MO, at 5 p.m. Sunday, April 19, 2015. We plan on sharing stories about Lexi and precious moments we had with her. We will have some great pictures of Lexi and send her off with love, tears and some laughter as we remember how much Lexi brought to our lives.
