Born in Louisville, KY, she was the daughter of the late Rev. John M. and Clara S. Scholtzhauer Peck and the wife of the late William T. Clark, who died in 1999.
Joyzelle obtained her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Buffalo in New York. She taught American History in the Manheim Township High School from 1946-53 and instituted the Guidance Program. She also initiated the Guidance Program at a high school in a different school district from 1953-65. While on the faculty of West Chester State College from 1965-77, Joyzelle taught Guidance Techniques in Graduate School and did psychological testing for both schools and for private individuals.
She was a charter member of The United Church of Christ in East Goshen, PA, where she served on the planning committee, hospitality committee, and altars committee; and was a greeter, teacher and chairman of the Sunday school and assistant church treasurer.
She enjoyed traveling throughout Canada, reading, history, bridge, ballet, gem jewelry making and participating in plays.
Joyzelle is survived by a son, James M., husband of Marianne Clark, Lumberton, NC; three daughters, Judith, wife of James Oski, Gloucester, MA; Marcia Blisard, Poolesville, MD; and Sandra, wife of Duane Varnum, Manhattan Beach, CA, and seven grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Joyzelle's Life Celebration service at The United Church of Christ, East Goshen, 1201 N. Chester Rd., West Chester, PA, on Sunday, May 4, 2008 at 1:30 PM with Reverend Angelee C. Benner-Smith officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul's United Church of Christ Cemetery, Exton, PA. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 12:30 PM until time of service. Fred F. Groff, Inc., Lancaster, PA, in charge of arrangements.
