Mary Pearson/Cosby
TOPEKA - Mary "Mary Jane" Pearson/Cosby, 60, of Topeka died at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007, in Midland Hospice House in Topeka.
She was born in Kansas City, Mo., a daughter of Laurel "Larry" Pearson and Jane Pearl Ogan. She graduated from St. Patrick's High School of Parsons in 1965. She then attended Kansas State College of Pittsburg and received a bachelor's degree in education. Her first teaching job was in Hawaii.
She was a creative and talented artist and an avid photographer who loved taking pictures at family gatherings. She devoted a great deal of time researching the family genealogy.
She married Dennis Rouse in 1994. He survives.
Other survivors include her father, Larry Pearson of Parsons; a sister, Rosanna Heiskell and her husband, Steve; two brothers, Bill Pearson and his wife, Joan, Dick Pearson and his wife, Terry, all of Parsons; children, Jennifer Henderson and Jeffery Cosby of Topeka, Michael Rouse and his wife, Paula, of New Strawn, Nicki Furuiye and her husband, Paul, of Denver, and Becki Paton and her husband, Scott, of Greenville, S.C.; and 11 grandchildren, McKenzie, Jadyn, Jordyn, Cameron, Tori, Jennifer, Scotty Jr., Sarah, Kevin, Larise and Matthew.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Jane.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 S.W. Urish Road, Topeka, 66614, where a parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5973 S.W. Wanamaker Road, Topeka. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Parsons.
Memorial contributions may be made to Select Specialty Hospital and the American Diabetes Association and sent to the funeral home.
