She was born January 1, 1946, in Michigan City, Ind. She was a graduate of Indiana State University and Butler University. She was a fifth-grade teacher at Liberty Park Elementary and Grassy Creek Elementary School. Mrs. Bolka was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Michigan City.
Survivors include her husband, James Bolka; son Richard Bolka; daughters Dodie Tharp, Tricia Roark, Kayann Pope, Kristen Kelly, and Tasha Bolka; 10 grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell F. and Mildred Heggers Pearson.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Friday, September 7, 2007, at Hendryx Mortuary, New Palestine Chapel, 19 E. Main St., New Palestine. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday, September 6, 2007, at the funeral home. Additional visitation will be from 2 until 6 p.m. Sunday, September 9, 2007, in Ott-Haverstock Funeral Home in Michigan City with service at 11 a.m. on Monday. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
