Funeral services for Ethel King, 80, of 541 Smith St., Benton, will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home in Benton. Mrs. King died Saturday in Franklin Hospital in Benton after a brief illness. She was born Oct. 21, 1893 in Franklin County to John and Lenora Scrivner Pearce.
For 42 years, Mrs. King was the owner, and operator of hotels in Sesser, Du Quoin and Benton. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin.
Mrs. King was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas, in 1968. She is survived by a sister, Mildred Pearce of Benton. The Rev. Rex D. Wilson will officiate at the funeral service. Burial will be in the Middlefork Cemetery in Ewing.
