Ruth Peak Anderson, 84, of 1314 Aldrich Avenue in Boone, passed away Tuesday evening, October 4, 2011 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
She was born on August 17, 1927 in Atlantic, Iowa the daughter of Bruce and Cecelia (Petersen) Peak.
On July 17, 1949 she married Kermit Anderson in Anita, Iowa.
Ruth taught Kindergarten for 5 years prior to having children and she substitute taught for many additional years. Her kindergartners were often in her thoughts, as she enjoyed knowing about their lives.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Boone, Questers, Elks, VFW, Jills of Art, and several bridge clubs. Ruth enjoyed lunches with her bowling friends and especially cherished her Tuesday afternoon coffee friends.
Ruth met and cherished friends throughout her life. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy and they gave her countless hours of enjoyment. Her passions in life were family, friends, watching the squirrels and birds from her deck, reading, holiday decorating, violet flowers, and her favorite color purple, among many other loves.
Her strong belief in life was to never throw anything away.
Her parents and beloved husband, Kurry in 1983, preceded her in death.
Survivors include 2 daughters Debby Almquist and husband Mark of Estherville, Iowa and Cindy Dunshee and husband Rick of Polson, Montana; 1 son Steve Anderson and wife Shelley of Sioux City, Iowa; grandchildren Andy Almquist, Amy (Almquist) Chatham, Chris and Chad Dunshee, and Blake and Ryan Anderson; 5 great-granddaughters; 1 sister Jane Moehring; and countless cherished friends.
