George Peacock, age 80 of Albany, rode off into the sunset at his home on Monday, October 12, 2015, after a lengthy illness.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, October 15th at the Albany Cemetery with Rev. Dannie Lee officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Morehart Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, October 14th at Morehart Mortuary of Albany.

George Louie Peacock was born March 23, 1935 near Spring Creek, Texas to parents Benjamin Franklin Peacock and Clara Mae Trammell Peacock.

He grew up in Breckenridge and graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1953. On June 17, 1956, George married his sweetheart, Sue Hollen Fonville. He worked as a cowboy on the Ross Sloan Ranch in Breckenridge before moving to Albany where he worked on the Nail Ranch for 44 years as a cowboy and ranch foreman. Widely respected as a top cowhand, George led the Nail Ranch Rodeo Team to several WRCA World Championships along with numerous state and national titles.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Billy Briscoe, Johnny Briscoe, Dean Peacock, and one sister, Margaret Reagor.

Mr. Peacock is survived by his wife, Sue Peacock of Albany; two brothers, Troy Peacock, Benny Peacock; three sisters, Jo Ann Dunlap, Mary Burdine, Patsy Brady; three sons, George Peacock, Jr. and wife Rosalia of Burleson, Sammy Peacock and wife Shayla of Tye, Ricky Peacock and wife Leah of McCamey; one daughter, Brenda Jones of Albany; along with eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
