Arrena Ailene Payton was the daughter of Elisha Walter Payton and second wife Eliza Underwood, who were married on January 12, 1808 in Ohio County, Kentucky. She was born August 28, 1815 in Grayson County, Kentucky. She was the wife of Samuel D. Atterberry, the son of Solomon Atterberry and Annie Green. Annie Green was the daughter of Thomas Green and Sarah Meeks. The widowed Sarah Meeks Green married Stephen Mahurin on Agist 29. 1799 in Shelby County, Kentucky.

Samuel and Arrena Aileen were the parents of the following children born in Grayson County:
Elizabeth - b. 3 Jun 1850 - d. 8 Jul 1852
Joel - b. 3 Jun 1852 - d. 8 Jul 1852
Amy Ann "Mary Ann" - b. 7 Aug 1853
Nathaniel - b. 3 Sep 1856 - d. 3 Dec 1858

Samuel Atterberry died at the age of 54 years, 8 months and 10 days on July 10, 1873 and was buried in the Mahurin Cemetery near Tousey, Grayson County, Kentucky. Arreen Payton Atterberry followed him in death on October 7, 1882 She was buried as Aileen Atterberry beside her husband. The dates on Aileen's stone are 1815-1893. Her brother Samuel Payton is also buried in the Mahurin Cemetery.
