LUBBOCK- Lisa Naomi Askew Namma, 53, of Lubbock passed away on Oct. 18, 2013.
Lisa was born on June 26, 1960 to the parentage of Melvin and Myrtle Payton in Muleshoe, Texas. Lisa was a loving mother and was known by her grandchildren as Grandma Namma. She was very strong in her faith and loved her church family and friends. She enjoyed being around her family and had a very special place in her heart for all her nieces and nephews. She had a heart of gold and loved doing things for other people.
Lisa was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Myrtle Payton; and three brothers, James E. Payton, Carl Wayne Payton and Kenneth P. Payton.
Lisa leaves to cherish her memories her daughter, Crystal Askew; sons, Mel Askew and Anthony Askew; sisters, Betty Jones, Mary Gray, Shirley Payton, Pamela Lewis, Alesha Henderson; brothers, Melvin Payton Jr., Charles Payton and Johnny Payton; grandchildren, Travon Jordan, Taedrin Askew, Tyris Askew, Mason Askew, Braybn Askew, Malyk Askew and Celeste Castillo; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family, and friends.
Celebration of life services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Community Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. Visitation will be held today, Oct. 22, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Griffin Mortuary.
