Inez V. Brinkley, 86, Fredonia, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Mo.

She was born Aug. 31, 1914, in Mountain Home, Ark., the daughter of Robert and Mary Payne.

She was a homemaker.

She married Rex O. Brinkley in Independence on Feb. 12, 1941, and he died June 8, 1979.

She also was preceded by a daughter, Catherine Mary Ann Brinkley, and two grandchildren.

She is survived by three daughters, Judy Herndon of Riverton, Carolyn Sexton of Wichita and Nancy Cox of Fredonia; a brother, Ephey Payne of Kansas City, Mo.; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Maple Grove Cemetery near Roper, with the Rev. Lawrence Grove officiating. Friends may call until 5 p.m. today at Timmons Funeral Home, Fredonia.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
