It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather BENNY PAVAN, who passed away on September 2nd, 2011 at the Foothills Calgary Hospital. Benny was born on the Pavan Dairy Farm to Maria and Joe Pavan in 1936. He was the youngest of 7 siblings. He met his best friend Berniece Soltys in 1954 and has been happily married for the past 56 years. From his early years until the age of his retirement Benny spent his life working on the Pavan Dairy Farm, with his brother Louis and mother Maria. Benny worked and helped to grow the family farm to the Largest Producing Dairy Farm in Western Canada, milking over 225 head of cows, which was renowed in those days. From the time he joined the Knights of Columbus in his early 20's until his passing he was an active member in the Knights of Columbus Council 1490 and was initiated into the fourth degree in1969. Benny and Berniece loved to travel and were privileged to attend the first Canada vs. Russia Hockey Summit Series in Russiain 1972. They continued to travel and explore the world visiting numerous countries in Europe, Hawaii, Caribbean, and Panama. Aswell as travelling he loved to serve and was president of the Lethbridge Exhibition Board for a number of years and continued to serve on that board. After the farm sold in 1978 the family kept the river bottom land north of Lethbridge and years later aportion was sold to the city, which became what we now know and enjoy as Pavan Park. He had a love for fishing and for many years spent time at his cabin at Duck Lake, where family and friends gathered frequently. He loved making wood working projects and became a genuine crafts man. Benny and Berniece continued their love for travelling with their motor home across Canada and the United States. The majority of Benny's time in his later years was spent serving his fellow men through the Knights of Columbus, the Lethbridge Exhibition Board and Italian CanadianClub. Through these associations he made numerous friends through out Lethbridge and area. In recent years Benny and Berniece enjoyed spending time with their large extended family on Lake McGregor near Kalispell. His greatest joy in life was his family. One of his greatest gifts to us, his family was his ability to express his love to us at every encounter with a hug and a kiss. His family knew and felt the love he had for them, and he knew thelove they had for him. He will be missed and forever loved by his wife of 56 years Berniece, his daughter Linda, his sons Leroy (Sandra), Lorne (Teri). His grand children Alix (Tyler) Hirsche, Arin (Brian) Lathen, Aric (Micah) Pavan, Alison (Allan) Schneider,Alan (Britnee) Pavan, Andin Pavan, Ariel Pavan, Hannah Pavan and Devin Pavan. His great grand children Parks, Crew, Jameson, Clara, Sloane, Jack, Brixton, Penelope, Nev, and Banks are already missing his hugs and kisses.
