Trial date set in murder case
Michael Andrew "Andy" Paulson stood silently as Judge Daniel Hebert read the charges against him Monday in Saline County District Court. The judge entered a plea of "not guilty" on Paulson's behalf after he stood mute while charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder and a new charge of aggravated robbery were formally read in court.Paulson, 40, is accused of fatally stabbing his wife, Valerie Paulson, 38, and severely injuring his sister-in-law, Jessie Putman in the couple's Assaria home on July 6.The aggravated robbery charge was added after Putman testified at a preliminary hearing Sept. 8 that Paulson took her cell phone as she attempted to call 911 to get help. Police testified at the hearing that they found the phone in a bathroom sink in the house.
A trial date of Nov. 15 was set for Paulson.
