Ludolph Paulsen Chilton Times September 23, 1893 CU
A Sad CaseóDuring the heavy wind storm on Friday afternoon last, Ludolph, son of Herman Paulsen, of Charlestown, met his death. The boy, who was about 9 years of age, was watching a gate on his father's farm to prevent the cattle from going into the hay-field from which Mr. Paulsen was hauling hay. He asked if he might ride down into the field on the hay rack with two other children and consent was given him. Mr. Paulsen and the children had not been in the field long before the heavy wind came up. It struck the hay rack capsized it and threw Ludolph and his brothers to the ground. Ludolph in falling, struck the back of his head on the ground and fractured his skull. Dr. Luce was immediately summoned, but nothing could be done for the unfortunate boy. He lived about thirty hours after the accident. The funeral took place on Tuesday and was largely attended. Mr. and Mrs. Paulsen have the heart-felt sympathy of the community in their sad bereavement.
