August H. Paulsen, 50, of 3540 North Frederick Avenue, Milwaukee, died Saturday, Feb. 1, at a hospital in Milwaukee where he had been ill since Nov. 23.

He was born in the town of Charlestown, Calumet county, Aug. 19, 1890, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Paulsen.
He was graduated from the Chilton High school in 1908 and from the University of Wisconsin in 1912. After his graduation from the university he was employed in the office of the state tax commission for about five years. He was a certified public accountant.

He went from Madison to Chicago and later to Omaha and then returned to Wisconsin and was employed by a lumber company in Milwaukee. His health became impaired and he went to San Francisco where he spent about two years convalescing. He returned to Milwaukee in 1933 and had since been the manager of the Arthur Anderson Company, certified public accountants.

Mr. Paulsen married Miss Katherine Hargrave of Colfax, Wash. He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Nancy Kay, eight years old. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Hulda Bunk of Chilton and Mrs. Lillian Bruckner of Milwaukee.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Fass Funeral home, Milwaukee, and the body was brought to Chilton to the Pfeffer Funeral Home Monday afternoon. Masonic Funeral services were held at the funeral home by the Chilton lodge of which Mr. Paulsen had been a member for the last 25 years. Burial was made in Hillside cemetery.
