Ernst Paulsen - Kiel Record
Mr. Ernst Paulsen was born on April 24, 1865 in the Town of New Holstein, a son of Mr. and Mrs. August Paulsen. He attended the public school and acquired a good education, after which he worked for eight years as an apprentice. Then he devoted himself to the study of the law and graduated from the Advocates school in Madison, after which in the year 1898 he practiced as a lawyer in Chilton. For three years he was District Attorney and over eight years as Judge in Calumet County. The people who have employed him hold him in highest esteem for the quality of his work.
In June of 1901 he married Miss Anna Boie from the Town of New Holstein, which was a very happy marriage even though they remained childless. Besides his wife, he leaves behind his mother, three sisters and two brothers, who mourn his untimely death.
His coffin was carried to Chilton on the Tuesday morning train and brought to his home. On Wednesday the burial took place at the cemetery in New Holstein, where his father is laid to rest, with numerous mourners in attendance. Pastor Schildknecht read the burial service.
